Records for Italian family history
A record type is useful only if you know who created it, where the copy lives now, and which facts it is likely to include. Civil registration, parish books, military lists and census fragments each fail in a different way. The U.S. pages cover the arrival and naturalization files that usually reveal the Italian town in the first place.
For a walkthrough of the two big free websites, use the Antenati andFamilySearch guides. If the year you need is not online, use records that are not online.
