The guides

The text is educational. It is not a contract with any archive, and it is not legal, tax, or professional genealogy advice. We try to describe real websites and real record types. We can still be wrong, or a website can change after a page was updated. You are responsible for checking the current instructions of any office you contact.

The kit

The Italian Records Kit: Find, Request & Read Your Ancestors' Records is a digital file bundle. Checkout is not connected until a payment URL is added to the site config and the files exist. When a sale happens, the price is the price shown at checkout. The planned launch price is $29 USD. The planned refund window is 14 days from purchase: email hello@italianancestry.org and we refund the kit price. Fees you pay to a comune, parish, archive, translator, or DNA company are not kit fees.

You may use the templates for your own family research. You may not resell the files, upload them to a public file site, or present them as your own product.

Your records

Do not post living people's private data in a message to us. If you share a record image, you are responsible for having the right to share it. Archive images on Antenati, FamilySearch and other sites stay under those sites' terms. Our guides do not give you a license to republish them.

Copyright

The text, worksheets and site design are ours. Names of archives, companies and record series belong to their owners. You may quote a short passage with a link to the page. You may not copy a whole guide.

Liability

The site is provided as-is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for decisions you make from a guide, for an office that does not answer, or for a third-party website that is down. Some places do not allow a limit of liability. In those places, the limit applies only as far as the law allows.
